Walter Bagehot (1826-1877) was a British journalist, businessman, and essayist, who wrote extensively about government, economics, and literature. Perhaps best known for The English Constitution, which explores the constitution of the United Kingdom, specifically the functioning of Parliament and the British monarchy and discusses the contrasts between British and American government.
