Mauro, an Italian immigrant who lives in Toronto returns to Italy, specifically to his village Pisterzo hoping to regain some peace of mind in those mountains away from the stresses and the noisy streets of the city. However, once there he finds instead his best friend from childhood, Paolo, being involved with the mob. He meets Maria Luisa who was soon to become a high-class prostitute and is determined to free her from those commitments even though it might cost his life. Mauro's love for his country is great but his desire to see the Italian people live in peace and harmony is even greater. He dreams of one day to see equality among people throughout the world, and will never stop fighting until this goal is achieved.
