This is the story of a young miller who, driven from his home by American rebels, joins Butler's Rangers and fights in the last battle of the revolutionary war. Later as an officer in the Lincoln Militia he fights in many battles on the Niagara frontier in the War of 1812 and, with his young wife Lucy, builds a mill, raises a family and grows a community. This is a rousing tale of war and frontier life and love during the birth of Canada.
