A story of two high-tech entrepreneurs-James Stone is mature and highly successful; Timothy O'Neill is young but highly ambitious. O'Neill works for Stone but he also regards him as a friend and mentor. As the story progresses Stone suffers an agonizing decline in fortune and mental stability. In several respects Stone is responsible for his own fate, but many of his associates prove to be evil contributors to his downfall. O'Neill attempts to stabilize Stone but to no avail.
