A poet is someone who expresses their inner most feelings within lines written on paper. Within those lines a poet will compose words that can take the reader into a place of imagination. When someone reads a poem, especially from the works of Dickinson, Keats, Whitman, Teasdale, or any of the other great poets they are drawn into an almost magical world. The reader may feel the happiness that a love has to offer or feel the emotion of sadness when a love is broken. A poem can describe colors of a rainbow, sorrow of a lost loved one, feel of a spring breeze or a leaf as it softly floats to the ground. Poets will expose their heart and soul for all to read, feel and even see, whatever the pen will allow. Sometimes a poem will say the words, the voice cannot.
