The origin of world medicine can be traced to the Sindhu (Indus) and Sarasvati river valley civilization as of 8000 BC, or earlier, where Yoga-Ayurveda concepts, based on the Samkhya philosophy in the Vedas, assured complete mental, spiritual and physical wellbeing for reunion of the microcosm (man) with the macrocosm (God). Ayurveda surgeons were performing rhinoplasty, plastic surgery, caesarian delivery, cataract removal, catheterization, and the like, some of which cannot be improved upon even today, thousands of years before the Europeans in the 18th century CE. Ayurveda system of humors was later on adapted blindly for holistic care by the Greeks, Egyptians, Arabs, Chinese and others, although they could not understand the accompanying discipline of Yoga for which their culture had no theoretical basis.
