God tells us that He has our back. The prophet, Isaiah, uses the word "rereward" which is a term that has pretty much become obsolete in modern day language. Rereward is a word which means a "rear guard" or "rear protection". As Christians, there are times in our lives when we feel the walls closing in, and an unseen enemy pursuing us. It is at those times when we must realize that He is a God that not only goes before us, (I Chronicles 14:15) but He ordains our steps, (Psalm 37:23) surrounds us like "the mountains are around Jerusalem" (Psalm 125:2) and IS our protection from what lies behind us (Isaiah 52:12).
