The second volume of Prince Klemens Wenzel von Metternich's (1773-1859) "papers classified and arranged by M. A. de Klinowstrom" and edited by his son. Prince Metternich was one of the most important diplomats of his era. A major figure in the negotiations before and during the Congress of Vienna, he is considered a paragon of foreign-policy management and a practitioner of 19th-century diplomatic realism, deeply rooted in the balance of power.
