This work primarily provides biographical sketches of soldiers in the Revolutionary War in the counties of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Rowan, Iredell, Lincoln, Gaston, Cleaveland, Burke, and Wilkes, and information on their families. Included are stories and recollections of the period, the conditions endured, as well displays of patriotism and persistent bravery. This work is arranged by county, and outlines the history of the Revolution in western and southwestern North Carolina.
