Nurse PENNY WHICKAM, devastated at the betrayal of her fiance with her best friend, flees England to work at a leprosy colony named The Haven in Uganda, Africa, believing only a drastic change in life style will enable her to overcome her shattered life. Travelling with Penny and five other nurses is DOCTOR CHRIS MAYNARD, Chief Medical Officer of The Haven.
