An account of those black (mainly Afro-American) entertainers - actors, singers, dancers, comedians, instrumentalists - who appeared in Dublin during the Victorian period. Contemporary reviews are quoted and such biographical information as is available is provided for the less well known artists, while bibliographies are provided for those who are more familiar. The work is illustrated with photographs and newspaper clippings and an index of artists is included.
