This book will provide a timely additional resource for work in early years' settings. It will be relevant for a range of providers including practitioners in maintained, voluntary, private environments and childminders. It will also be appropriate as part of taught courses in Further and Higher Education establishments concerning early years and the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework for students working on such courses as EYPS, ITT, Foundation and Undergraduate degrees, NVQ, BTech and CACHE. The book aims to: support those involved in the implementation of the new Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines; give an understanding of the rationale and themes in the document; and, provide practical guidelines to aid practice within the settings. It also aims to: foster further understanding of EYFS for those involved with related aspects, for example practitioners working in other key stages, HE, FE, advisory capacity; be a source of reference for students and trainees working in this area; promote good practice by helping practitioners to develop their practice and raise their standards of achievement in their work; provide guidelines for interested parents, carers, childminders etc; and, make links between the EYFS curriculum and current research, theory and practice, including national initiative and international perspectives. The book will cover the main outline of the Early Years Foundation Stage document, providing a discussion of the rationale for the aspects, with guidelines and suggestions of activities to support practitioners and students who work with the age phase.
