The story unfolds when Samantha Melnack, a seventeen-year-old, discloses that she is pregnant. She is promptly kicked out of their home, but not before she endures major physical abuse from her father. At this point she is afraid that he is capable of anything. She is now ready to make a positive change and start anew. In order to escape from her father's grip she calls her Aunt Chelsea. Chelsea Stoudt picks her up and they depart Samantha's hometown in Pennsylvania for a safer location; Aunt Chelsea's beach house in Florida. Samantha has many mixed feelings about leaving her hometown. It was the town in which her mother disappeared five years ago. It is also the town that the love of her life, Chad Hartley, lives in, along with her mother's extended family. Samantha is scared beyond comprehension that her father will take out his anger on their families. Both Chad and Samantha's family learn to overcome their loss and appreciate the tight bond that their extended families bring....
