Marceline is the place in everyone's heart that has the warm glow of old memories of growing up. It's the explanation of why we can't wait to grow up but end up wishing we never had. We all have a Marceline somewhere that was left behind but never forgotten. This one is extra special as it transpires in the 1950s when things seemed simple and kind of innocent. The everyday events in a small-town boy's life represent what made him a man and transcends the serious side because these events were mostly funny. The story follows a '50's blue collar kid through childhood with all the wonderful learning experiences that involved peers and family but also includes some of the negatives that real life deals out. The reader gets the opportunity to be there when he first notices girls, gets to bat the first time in little league, and walks off into the world alone.
