On the cusp of the immanent collapse of the Confederacy, Union forces penetrate deeper into the South splintering a world once full of gentlemen and ladies, stability and prominence, now into a land of uncertainty. In the midst of the frail South, a young Confederate soldier, Abel, returns home from war to find his plantation home lost by high tariffs to the sinister politician James Wolf. Abel unexpectedly finds himself in a forbidden romance with the darling belle, Avoline, who he later finds is the daughter of Wolf.
