Antonio Ibarra had planned on spending Christmas with his little girls, seven-year-old Marissa and five-year-old Liana. Instead, he wakes to a cold house, the front door wide open and his young daughters nowhere to be found. It seems odd that someone could get into the house without alerting Ibarra's protective Labrador retriever, Donna; or that the children would willingly go with someone in the middle of the night without waking their father. After searching the woods and riverbank for the missing children, the police conclude that Antonio himself has hidden the little girls away somewhere.
