For years the last book of the Bible, known as the Revelation, has been shrouded in mystery. Its confusing images??'including the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, dragons, and bottomless pits, coupled with dreadful warnings such as the trumpets sounded by the angels and the threat of Armageddon??'have long been reasons why many readers of the Bible have shied away from this amazing work. Indeed, many passages have the ability to make the hair stand up on the back of your neck: "Rejoice then, you heavens and those who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you with great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!" (12:12).
