Moffett's Dead Secret is written about a true event that happened in Calhoun county in Arkansas in the 1800's. It's about adventure, hardships, and their success in the long journey of life. The adventures are many and the characters come to know so many people and shared with them the hardships and the good times. They saw the many changes that took place in the country. The potato famine brought so many immigrants into the country. The immigrants became squatters and took land from the land owners. They saw the beginning of the Civil War and the assassination of Abe Lincoln. It was bad times many heartaches. Their money consisted of gold coins. The soldiers tried to make the people choose what side they wanted to be on and take their gold in exchange for their money. Some of the people didn't want to join either side. Mr. Moffett was one of the ones who wouldn't choose as he felt the war was unfair.
