Jennie Madison is a small-town hairdresser in Mylan, Georgia. She's famous for her talent, and everybody is attracted to her good nature, which makes the atmosphere of her salon like a second home. When Mayor Oldestson visits her salon with a stranger named David Abcock to tell them all about his plan to change the future of Mylan, Jennie and her friends are dubious. Is a prison really the solution for a faltering economy? Jennie's suspicions about Abcock are confirmed when she is reunited-quite unexpectedly-with Mr. Ed, a very peculiar childhood friend. She trusts Mr. Ed and will do anything to help him, and in doing so, she makes discoveries about the world around her that will change her for a lifetime.
