Twenty-six year old Adam Runner is an English teacher and head varsity boys' basketball coach at a small high school. Popular and successful as a coach and teacher, his emotional life away from school is in shambles. Distraught over the deaths of his girlfriend and then his entire family in separate automobile accidents less than a year apart, he blames himself for certain circumstances he believes could have prevented the tragedies. But everything changes when he meets Glory, a senior cheerleader for a school that will be playing against his Dickson High Devil Dog team.
