William Davenport Adams (1851-1904) was a British journalist and author, the eldest son of notable author and journalist William Henry Davenport Adams (1828-1891). Adams Junior was an editor of provincial papers, and a dramatic critic from 1878 to 1904. His works include: Famous Books (1875), The Comic Poets of the Nineteenth Century (1876), Latter-Day Lyrics (1878), English Epigrams (1878), Dictionary of English Literature (1878), The Witty and Humorous Side of the English Poets (1880), Quips and Quiddities (1881), Songs From the Novelists (1885), By-Ways in Book-Land (1888), Rambles in Book-Land (1889), A Book of Burlesque (1891) and With Poet and Player (1891).
