When thirteen-year-old Ella is kidnapped, her brother Fin, aged 15, blames himself for leaving her alone in the house with three-year-old Sam while their parents were out drinking with friends. Fin's feelings of guilt drive him on to discover the identity of the kidnapper and save his sister, but as the story unfolds it appears that this is not a normal kidnapping for money.
