In the American seed trade it refers to German and Common Millet, as distinguished from Hungarian Grass. Millet Grass.--At present its ordinary meaning is Milium effusum. Loudon in 1855, applied the name to the entire genus Milium. In France it has been applied to both the commonly cultivated millets, Panicum miliaceum Setaria and Italica. See Indian Millet Grass. Missouri Millet (Setaria Italica).--Any millet grown in Missouri, especially the variety now being introduced as Early Harvest, which, in a more or less impure condition, has been known for many years in Missouri and neighboring states.
