Where the water is deeper and colder, and in places where, perhaps, the sun has not such free access, there the water does not seem to promote the hatching of the eggs, and they will stay there, and the whole thing be checked by the water itself which is let on to destroy them. Usually, after the water is let on, the sun warms them up, and they will hatch out then. One lesson we have been taught is, to have our bogs graded without deviation from a perfect level.
