Clair Wallace Hayes (1887-?) was a journalist and the author of a number of early twentieth century novels and stories about the First World War. He also wrote under the pseudonym Ensign Robert L. Drake. His works include: The Boy Allies at Liege (1915), The Boy Allies With the Cossacks (1915), The Boy Allies in the Trenches (1915), The Boy Allies on the Firing Line (1916), The Boy Allies in the Balkan Campaign (1916), The Boy Allies in Great Peril (1916), The Boy Allies at Verdun (1917), The Boy Allies on the Somme (1917), The Boy Allies with Haig in Flanders (1918), The Boy Allies Under the Stars and Stripes (1918), The Boy Allies With Pershing in France (1919), The Boy Allies With the Great Advance (1919) and The Boy Allies With Marshal Foch (1919).
