H. Freeman Wood was an English writer active in the later years of the nineteenth century. He specialised in mysteries that took place in France involving English characters. The Passenger From Scotland Yard (1888) features Inspector George Byde. His other works include: The Englishman of the Rue Cain (1889), The Night of the 3rd Ult. (1890), Avenged on Society (1892) and The Night Mail (1894).
