The inspiration for the poems herein derives partly from the author's previous book, On the Pastures of Belvedere, and partly from a desire to share with readers some of the insights on a number of the poet's life experiences, as he is better able to filter them in the wiser, and certainly more reflective, years of retirement. The work explores through poetic imagery, the rich and entertaining thread of salient aspects and experiences of the poet's long and varied life and times. It spans a period from between the two World Wars up to the present, and is cast against the background of living on two continents, with their inevitable comparisons in culture, levels of social and political development, opportunities, and quality of life, in effect, of two worlds, the Old and the New.
