Rick and Ian have lunch with Sir Marcus Fullerton and his candidate for the proposed third senior vice president of the European operation; Ian and Rickard are unimpressed. When Ian informs Sir Marcus of his and Rickard's opinion the financier exacts his revenge by informing a number of newspaper reporters that the author of Ian's book A Little Bit of Levity is employed at AmerConCorp's London office. During a visit to Michael's family in Dorset a mid-November week-end is agreed with Luke offering to see about hotel reservations at the venue. The party is a huge success. The General, Mrs Schultzer and Helge Rheinhardt all attend, at the same time taking a week's vacation, their first holiday in thirty years. Ian is required to fly to Boroburg at very short notice to give a presentation to four of the Corporation's major stockholders.
