The artist Viktor Danilov looks like a stern and taciturn master fully absorbed in his own art. But all such impressions of austerity disappear as soon as we see what he is able to create on canvas and paper or in sculpture. Nearly all his oeuvre falls into the pattern of Russian "jester culture". But it is grotesque rather than satire. Most works by Danilov, whenever they were created, bring a kind smile to one's face.
