Army life, National Service style, Wasn't to do with war, with killing. It was more like a cheap boarding school; So it seemed to a young courier by steam train. In these sometimes humorous, sometimes thoughtful poems, Peter Sizer explores experiences he has had throughout his life. He juxtaposes contemplation of the effects of aging with more light-hearted poems about the modern world and its trappings. He also touches on army life and the position of the Church in today's society. Peter Sizer was born in Lowestoft in 1931. After working for a few years as a journalist, he eventually taught economics at the University of Aston Management Centre. He has published one (much) earlier collection: Old Man on a Bicycle (Outpost Publications, 1977).
