To the outsider, Connie's life is hardly perfect: divorce looming, a rebellious teenager, and an ex-lover turned stalker, to name but a few of the trials she faces. However, life in the wisteria-clad Victorian vicarage in the glorious Devon countryside with her four daughters and their unerringly faithful dog, continues in a joyous mix of the funny and the bizarre. From head lice to gooseberry wine, she juggles everyday problems with the chaotic charm of a free spirit. Playing in a band and a love affair with an international session guitarist provide supply teacher Connie with the semblance of a vibrant lifestyle; but perpetual precedence to the demands of her young family exposes the wobbles beneath the surface. Sickness, birth and death all play their part in what will prove a roller coaster summer leading her to re-evaluate her life and look to a brighter future. And just what did the dog find under the buffet table.
