Sarah comes from a close-knit family from a northern mining community; she is a responsible girl and seems set for a steady future. But when she decides to go away to London "in service", as a parlour maid to Lord and Lady Chandler, little does she know that the winds of change are about to blow a gale through her quiet life, and that nothing will be the same again...
