BEYOND SCAFELL is a collection of poems on subjects associated with Cumbria and the Lake District. The poems, which vary in form and style, reflect the author's fascination with the world around him. They are grouped thematically. For example, some are inspired by the beautiful Cumbrian landscape, while others focus on town life. Yet others are about local places of interest, including churches and other ancient buildings. Famous people associated with the area are not neglected and there are poems, for example, about the Wordsworths and Donald Campbell. The author was brought up in Cumbria and worked there for many years, though now he lives in Derbyshire. He has written books on a variety of subjects.
