When fire swept through the land where Gary and Clo had raised their family, not one, but two of the homes in which they lived were burned to the ground. Seeing pictures of their ashes moved Clo to write of the life they experienced on their Montana ranch. When they retired to Georgia in 1999, they left a portion of their hearts with their ranch and land and friends. It was a call from their son that alerted them to the fire spreading through the country in which they had lived. Though they had been gone for some time, and had sold their ranch in 2004, they found themselves back there in their minds, living the hell the flames were causing. Gary plotted what he would be doing to protect their home, and how to handle the livestock and outbuildings that are essential to ranching. Clo found her computer a magnet as she tracked the devastation via the Facebook entries made by neighbors and friends.
