This is the inspirational story of Leigh Gath. Born without arms or legs due to thalidomide, Leigh has overcome prejudices, lived through the Northern Ireland conflict, escaped life with an alcoholic husband, raised two amazing children and found love again. Born in Newry, Northern Ireland in 1962, Leigh began a lifetime of disability activism at the age of 17. She moved to Texas in 1995 with her first husband and baby son. Her daughter followed soon after. Leigh moved back to Ireland in 2006. She has achieved a BSc in Criminal Justice. Throughout her life Leigh has strived to attain dignity and respect for people with disabilities. This is not the story of a victim but of a woman who has grown through the experiences life has brought her way - refusing to let anyone steal her dreams. Leigh presently resides in County Limerick, Ireland with her husband Eugene and children Karl and Aisling.
