Smith released her first studio album, Psykosoul, in 2000, which spawned the singles "Gladly" and "Good N Strong". During the hiatus of her career in 2001, Smith joined The Brand New Heavies. In 2004, she embarked on her solo career that she pursued following the release of the group's album "We Won't Stop" in 2002.
