Klubradio is heavily involved in left-liberal party politics which is well illustrated by choices such as using an active SZDSZ MP and former party chairman Gabor Kuncze as contributor and talk show host since 2008. Socialist Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany also hosted once a program on Klubradio while in office. Using emblematic party politicians as journalists is considered controversial in Hungary and does not constitute common practice. Klubradio was started in April 1999, as the official radio of the Hungarian Auto Club (HAC). After HAC sold the station to Monograf Zrt, the original commitments of the Auto Club were ignored, and the radio's profile was transformed completely into a politics-heavy station.
