High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Battle of Brooklyn is an annual basketball game played between the basketball programs of Long Island University and St. Francis College. The tradition began in the 1975–76 season to honor William Lai and Daniel Lynch, the former Athletic Directors of Long Island and St. Francis, respectively. The men's basketball programs have been competing since the inaugural year and the women's basketball programs have competed since the 1993-94 season. Each year at the conclusion of the game the Most Valuable Player is awarded the Lai-Lynch Trophy.
