He lives in Huntingtown, Maryland, and is the communications director for the Calvert County Republican Central Committee. He served in the United States Air Force from 1983–1992, attaining the rank of Captain. He also worked for the Bush administration from 2001 to 2004, serving the United States Government as a chief information officer (CIO) with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and later as a Program Executive Office for the Small Business Administration (SBA). He also has worked for private sector companies, including Science Applications International Corporation and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
