The Falkland Islands are located 500 kilometres (310 mi) from the coast of Argentina, 1,080 kilometres (670 mi) west of the Shag Rocks (South Georgia), and 940 kilometres (580 mi) north of the British Antarctic Territory (which overlaps with the Argentine and Chilean claims to Antarctica in that region).
