High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Fortress is the codename of a cancelled video game that was in development by GRIN as a spin-off of Square Enix's Final Fantasy series. An action game set in the recurring Final Fantasy world of Ivalice, it was planned for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 platforms. Ulf Andersson devised the concept for Fortress and preproduction began in the second half of 2008. During development, the game originally included a judge character and concept art from Final Fantasy XII, as well as other elements such as chocobos and other recurring creatures in the series. However, Square Enix did not pay GRIN over several months. GRIN resumed work to bring the game's art style closer to the Final Fantasy series, but the developer went bankrupt two months later.
