Portrayed by Hunter Tylo, the character was introduced by William J. Bell and made her on-screen debut during the episode that aired on June 6, 1990. She is a psychiatrist in Los Angeles who is intertwined in the medical and personal storylines of the show; while becoming a romantic lead who could tackle social issues. Tylo had an unlucky streak with soap operas prior to being cast as Taylor, having been fired twice. She is often described as unlucky in love but sophisticated and intelligent. She was noted for her "no-nonsense" strong and upfront attitude during her early days. However, at times Tylo has voiced her opinion about Taylor being absentminded despite her professionalization.
