Bernard Tomic (Croatian: Bernard Tomic; born 21 October 1992) is an Australian professional tennis player who as of December 3, 2012 is ranked World No. 52 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). As a junior, Tomic enjoyed a successful career in which he won three Orange Bowl titles and two junior grand slam singles titles at the 2008 Australian Open and 2009 US Open respectively. In January 2009, he competed in his first ATP main draw event at the Brisbane International. Since then, the highlight of Tomic's career has been a quarterfinal appearance at the 2011 Wimbledon Championships, where he defeated then World No. 5 Robin Soderling in the third round before losing in four sets to the eventual champion Novak Djokovic. In January 2012, Tomic reached his first ATP semi-final at the Brisbane International and in June of the same year, he achieved a career high singles ranking of World No. 27.
