High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Isleno American term applied to a set of peoples from the southern United States that descended from Spanish settlers originating from the Canary Islands. They arrived there in the 18th century and have preserved the culture of their ancestors until now. Colloquially the term can also be used to refer to any Canarian person having American citizenship and his descendants in the U.S. This term is different from the "Islenos" term, which refers to people of Canarian descent in the set of American countries without distinction. The Isleno Americans are European (politically), North African (geographically) and Hispanic and Latino (linguistically) Americans and are of European (Iberian and French - including cajuns- mainly) and Guanche (North African Berbers) descent basically.
