The London mayoral election of 2012 was an election held on Thursday 3 May 2012, to elect the Mayor of London, it was won by Boris Johnson of the Conservative Party. It was held on the same day as the London Assembly election. It was the fourth election since the office of the Mayor of London was created in 2000. Incumbent Conservative Boris Johnson was seeking re-election for a second term as Mayor. Ken Livingstone, who was Mayor between 2000 and 2008, was seeking a third, non-consecutive term as the Labour candidate, whilst Jenny Jones stood for the Green Party and Brian Paddick for the Liberal Democrats. Other candidates included independent Siobhan Benita, the UK Independence Party's Lawrence Webb (under the label 'Fresh Choice for London'), and Carlos Cortiglia of the British National Party.
