Peter Seitz Adams (born August 27, 1950) is one of California’s most recognized landscape and figurative painters and an important figure in contemporary Southern California art. He is the longest serving President of the California Art Club (f. 1909) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena. Adams has been a professional artist since the late 1970s and, as a world traveler, he has been described as working in the tradition of 19th Century British Adventurer-Artists. He has painted extensively abroad, hiking and painting his way across Asia on two expeditions in the 1980s, where he visited China, India, Pakistan, Tibet and Bhutan. Disguised as a Mujahideen, in 1987 he painted in Afghanistan during Russia’s long involvement there and then lectured on his experiences when he went back to the United States.
