It encompasses the borough of Laureldale and the Muhlenberg Township. The district encompasses approximately 13 square miles. Per the 2000 federal census data it serves a resident population of 20,064. According to District officials, in school year 2007-08 the MSD provided basic educational services to 3,434 pupils through the employment of 245 teachers, 184 full-time and part-time support personnel, and 17 administrators.All students attend the same schools on a four step education process that features an elementary (K-4), intermediate (5-6), middle (7-9), and high (10-12) school.
