The boroughs of Chicora, Fairview, Karns City, Petrolia, and Bruin, as well as the townships of Parker, Fairview, Donegal, Perry, Sugar Creek, Brady's Bend, and Brady are within district boundaries. There are three K-6 elementary schools- Bruin, Chicora, and Sugarcreek Elementaries, as well as Karns City Junior-Senior High School. The district encompasses approximately 125 square miles. According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 10,720. According to District officials, in school year 2007-08 the KCASD provided basic educational services to 1,798 pupils through the employment of 127 teachers, 102 full-time and part-time support personnel, and 9 administrators.
