Serat Centhini is a 19th century (1814) Javanese literature which is a compilation of older Javanese writings i.e. Serat Jatiswara and Serat Cebolek and is being written as spiritual Javanese poetry (Suluk). It is written by a Javanese Sultanate Prince, A.A. Mangkunegoro III or Pakubuwono V. The author incorporated elements of Moslem and Shiva-Buddha-Kejawen teaching within his work. The literature work is considered to be the knowledge of everything in Javanese way of life (kawruh). It is also considered to be a very difficult piece of work to be understood by today's Javanese generation.
