High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The 46th season of The Late Late Show, the world's longest-runningchat show, began on 5 September 2008. It aired on RTE One each Friday evening from 21:30. The series marked the first occasion on which regular host Pat Kenny was absent, following the unexpected death of his mother. Gerry Ryan guest-hosted the 24 October edition of the show in Kenny's absence. Before the season began Kenny had been reluctant to sign up for the show again. Before long the series was generating substantial media coverage for topics such as phone-in competitions, controversial performances and awkward interviews.
